There's something you dont see every day!

The weather here is more extreme than Adelaide.. snow in the Winter to heat and humidity during the Summer.

Have always loved Summer but the snow in Winter is growing on me and am beginning to appreciate Fall and Spring more so where the weather is much more milder.

From time to time we get Tornado warnings pop up and where we are they are not as large as States in Tornado Alley experience. Still they are capable of doing plenty of damage and not something I want to experience.
We were standing on our local beach during the end of Summer last year as its just down the road and a great escape from the humidity and on the news all day were warning of severe thunderstorms and possibility of tornado activity.. It didn't look to bad so we ventured down there any way.
We were down there for about twenty minutes and other people were on the beach and I was looking up at the sky as you could see the storms moving in and it is quite amazing the view of the Bay with the clouds rolling in. Anyway I didn't realise at the time and was watching the clouds spin and you could see them falling which looked pretty incredible.
Five minutes later security came down and ordered everyone off of the beach and as I was talking to him he told me what I was watching the down draft and possible beginning of a tornado and needed to go home.
We got home and I turned on the news and another five minutes had only passed and we heard how a tornado had touched down in town probably 15-20 mins drive us and had ripped the rooves of few houses and caused some structural damage. I am pretty sure what I was watching on the beach that day was the beginning of that tornado...

GPS Systems...

Finally got around to investing in one of those GPS systems... Tom Tom that reads out turn by turn and street names... man... what a lifesaver they are. I always thought I had a good sense of direction. I mean you could drop me off anywhere in Australia and I would be able to get myself back home.

But for the love of money could not get my sense of bearing here although after two years am pretty comfortable in our own County and getting in an out of D.C. or Baltimore but get off the beaten track and I'm buggered.

The freeways / beltways over here can turn you around like you wouldnt believe and end up not having a clue where I am.. I used to joke with Jen that I always wanted to see this part of town when completely lost.

We were using mapquest and it prints you out a turn by turn direction but found it not accurate all the time and when you barrelling down the freeway at 75MPH / 120KMH unless you got your missus with you as navigator it can get pretty hairy trying to read a map whilst you feel like your driving in the Indy 500 with another couple of hundred cars around you all going the same way. Five lanes sometimes blowing out to seven or more as cars exit and enter the freeway.
